LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of 'The Daily Show,' comedian Jon Stewart didn't hold back as he tackled the contentious issue of money in politics.

Stewart took aim at some prominent figures, including Hunter Biden, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and former President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Jon Stewart calls out legal loopholes exploited by politicians

Stewart kicked off the segment by highlighting the legal woes of Senator Bob Menendez, who is facing federal bribery and obstruction charges but he didn't stop there. Stewart called out politicians and government officials who use their influence to advance their family members' careers and wealth.

“Robert Menendez’s gold bars in exchange for favorable legislation is obviously cartoonishly corrupt, but for anyone out there who thinks the status quo of government patronage and influence is of an entirely different species than Menendez, how dumb is you?” Stewart said.

Nancy Pelosi's stock sale sparks controversy amid allegations of conflict of interest

Stewart was particularly critical of Pelosi whose husband Paul Pelosi sold $5 million worth of shares in a chipmaker before the House voted on a bill to regulate the domestic chip industry.

Pelosi's spokesman said she owns no stock and was not involved in the deal, but questions persisted about a potential conflict of interest. Mr Pelosi bought options to buy stock in this company more than a year ago and exercised them on June 17, 2022," The Hill reports.

“As always, he does not discuss these matters with the Speaker until trades have been made and required disclosures must be prepared and filed. Mr Pelosi decided to sell the shares at a loss rather than allow the misinformation in the press regarding this trade to continue,” Drew Hammill added.

Meanwhile, Hunter Biden faced scrutiny for his involvement with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, which raised eyebrows due to his family connections.

Similarly, Kushner's post-government dealings, including a hefty investment from Saudi Arabia shortly after his White House tenure, raised ethical concerns about profiting from his government service.

Trolls say Jon Stewart 'hasn't aged well'

While Jon Stewart's recent segment on money in politics has sparked conversation, opinions remain divided among viewers.

One user wrote, "Great is he gonna fix it? No… but it’s so fine to talk about what’s wrong when you have a microphone…"

Another wrote, "If we are gonna point fingers our house must be clean … and that means the entire DNC."

One commented, "Woosh! Stewart has not aged well. At least he is ripping some libbys, which is rare for him."

One user said, "Indeed. Don’t forget that Jared and Ivanka worked for the US govt when they enriched themselves. SO similar to Hunter. "

One replied, "It goes beyond the corrupt profiteering of elected officials and their families; it is a systemic issue. Only one candidate aims to give America an honest & trustworthy government again. Let’s get corrupt money out of DC and out of elections. Its needed."
