WASHINGTON DC: President Donald Trump said Friday that he supports the Justice Department for sending the Jeffrey Epstein Files to the House Oversight Committee.

The committee has now received thousands of pages of documents, while the Justice Department also released an interview transcript and audio with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Donald Trump welcomes release of Epstein Files

Trump said he is in favor of a full and open process, stressing that innocent people should not be harmed in the disclosures.

“Innocent people shouldn’t be hurt. But I’m in support of keeping it totally open. I couldn’t care less,” Trump told reporters on Friday.

He explained that many names could appear in the files simply because of Epstein’s wide social circle.

“You got a lot of people that it could be mentioned in those files that don’t deserve to be,” Trump said. “Because he knew everybody in Palm Beach. I don’t know anything about that.”

Trump added that he had already instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to provide Congress with as much information as possible.

“The whole Epstein thing is a Democrat hoax. So we had the greatest six months, seven months in the history of the presidency, and the Democrats don’t know what to do, so they keep bringing up that stuff,” Trump said.

House Oversight Chair James Comer promises transparency

House Oversight Chair James Comer noted that his panel would work quickly while balancing transparency with the need to protect victims.

“You know, this is sensitive information. We want to make sure we don’t do anything to harm or jeopardize any victims that were involved in this, but we’re going to be transparent,” Comer told reporters on Capitol Hill, CNN reported.

The Oversight Committee confirmed receipt of the Justice Department’s first batch of Epstein records in a statement.

“The House Oversight Committee has received the Department of Justice’s first production of Epstein records pursuant to Chairman James Comer’s subpoena. The production contains thousands of pages of documents,” a GOP Oversight Committee spokesperson said.

The spokesperson also contrasted the disclosure with the previous administration’s approach.

“The Trump DOJ is providing records at a far quicker pace than anything the Biden DOJ ever provided. In fact, former Attorney General Garland obstructed Chairman Comer’s subpoena for the audio of Special Counsel Hur’s interview with President Biden to hide his cognitive decline,” the spokesperson said.

Ghislaine Maxwell transcript released by DOJ

Alongside the congressional delivery, the Justice Department released a transcript of its interview with Ghislaine Maxwell.

In the discussion, Maxwell distanced Trump from any allegations involving Epstein. She told officials she “never saw” Trump “in any inappropriate setting.”

During his 2024 campaign, Trump had said that if reelected, he would release a client list tied to Epstein. He later reversed his position after Elon Musk publicly suggested that Trump had delayed the release because his own name appeared in the files.

Epstein died in a New York City jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on trafficking charges, a death that fueled widespread speculation due to his connections to influential figures.

Internet demands full disclosure of Epstein files

Reactions online showed strong calls for total transparency.

“Excellent!! The People want all of them, 100,000, 300,000. All. Of. Them. No matter who they implicate, release the files. Only protect the names and faces of victims!,” one person wrote on X.

Another user posted, “Let me help you .. Maxwell said Trump was always a gentleman and never did anything inappropriate!! That ends the propaganda!!.”

Some online voices raised concerns about document integrity. “There needs to be extensive forensic analysis to determine if any parts are either missing or have been altered,” one person demanded.

Others claimed the files would mainly impact one political party. “The only names will be democrats,” another commenter wrote.
