Trump body shames Adam Schiff as tariff feud turns personal: ‘We call him watermelon head'

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump made a personal jibe at Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif) during his speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday, April 8.

“Adam Schifty Schiff. Can you believe this guy?” Trump told the attendees. “He’s got the smallest neck I’ve ever seen. And the biggest head. We call him watermelon head. How can that big fat face stand on a neck that looked like this finger? ... How we can allow people like that to run in office is a shame.”

The incumbent's jibe comes after Schiff criticized the sweeping tariffs that he announced last week, and that left the stock market reeling in their wake, evaporating trillions of dollars.



 

Adam Schiff accuses Trump of 'wrecking' the economy

During Schiff's appearance on 'Meet the Press' over the weekend, NBC News host Kirsten Welker asked his opinion on Trump's 'reciprocal' tariffs and his assuarance that it will herald an "economic revolution".

"I don’t agree with any part of that. And unfortunately, he’s wrecking our economy," responded Schiff, as per The Hill. “I hope and pray we stay out of recession. But if we head into a recession, it will be the Trump recession.”

“This is a completely self-destructive economic act that he’s engaged in,” he elaborated. “And it’s not just the tariffs. It’s also the freezing of funds, the firing of people, the alienation of our allies in California. I’m hearing from farmers who still haven’t recovered market share from the tariffs during the first Trump administration.”

Schiff added that the tourism industry and small businesses were also suffering from the tariffs, saying, "I’m hearing from people in the tourist industry. You have people from other countries now who don’t want to come here, most particularly Canadians. I’m hearing from other small business people who are telling me that Canadians are saying, ‘Don’t send us any more of your products. In fact, we’re going to send you back what you’ve already sent us.’ It’s the whole range of Trump economic policies that are really hurting people.”
