Trump calls Israel great ally in fist-thumping praise: 'They are courageous, bold, loyal'
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump strongly defended Israel’s role as a global partner, saying "they have proven to be a GREAT Ally of the United States of America.”
These comments followed the successful negotiation of a temporary truce in the Middle East. Through direct diplomacy, Trump established a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon intended to ease long-standing regional tensions.
Trump praises Israel as smart and loyal US ally
In a detailed post on 'Truth Social,’ Trump reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to Israel.
He dismissed critics of the alliance and praised the nation's resolve during periods of intense military pressure.
Trump wrote that “Whether people like Israel or not, they have proven to be a GREAT Ally of the United States of America.”
He further emphasized their strategic value by stating, “They are Courageous, Bold, Loyal, and Smart and, unlike others that have shown their true colors in a moment of conflict and stress, Israel fights hard, and knows how to WIN!”
Trump confirms halt in hostilities between Israel and Lebanon
The President’s praise came just days after he announced a significant breakthrough in diplomacy between Israel and Lebanon.
Following private discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump confirmed that both nations had agreed to halt their military operations.
The truce officially began at 5 pm EST on Thursday, April 16. In his announcement of the deal, Trump explained the reasoning behind the pause, stating, “These two leaders have agreed that in order to achieve peace between their countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE.”
Trump’s plan for historic White House peace summit
To turn this temporary window into a permanent resolution, Trump has directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to coordinate with Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine.
Trump also signaled his intent to bring both leaders to Washington for formal negotiations.
He posted that “In addition to the statement just issued, I will be inviting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, to the White House for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago. Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!”
Lebanese President Aoun thanked Trump for these efforts, while Trump promised to remain committed to an immediate halt to the fighting.
