WASHINGTON, DC: Thailand and Cambodia agreed to an immediate ceasefire three weeks after the two nations clashed on the border, claiming the lives of dozens.

The announcement came on Saturday, December 27, after Defense Ministers from both countries took part in peace talks, stating that civilians would return home as soon as possible and that the Cambodian soldiers held in Thailand since July would also be released.

In light of the revelation and the joint statement from both countries, Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to inform the public of the part America played as the mediator.

Touting about the wars the nation had helped stop under his administration, Trump said that he believed America was the “REAL United Nations.”

Trump criticized UN inaction on Thailand–Cambodia conflict

In his latest Truth Social post, Donald Trump announced the momentary end of fighting between Thailand and Cambodia, as he said that the two countries would go back to living peacefully as per their recently agreed-upon “original treaty.”

Trump congratulated the leaders of both nations for concluding the fight fairly and rapidly, adding that it was “fast and decisive,” as all such situations should be. He added that he was “proud” of the role America played, as it always did, regarding wars and conflicts.

“I have settled and stopped over the last eleven months, EIGHT,” Trump wrote.

The president added that the United States of America should be known as the United Nations, as he criticized the organization for its lack of assistance with Thailand and Cambodia.

Trump also wrote that the United Nations did not help to resolve the ongoing “disaster” between Russia and Ukraine.

“The United Nations must start getting active and involved in WORLD PEACE!” Trump concluded.
