WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump said the United States has already destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s naval forces, declaring that 10 Iranian ships have been sunk during the opening days of the US-Israeli war.

“We’ve already knocked out 10 ships. They’re at the bottom of the sea,” Trump said while outlining US objectives, arguing the campaign represents the “last best chance” to neutralize what he called the Islamic Republic’s growing missile and nuclear threats.

Trump says he used ‘last best chance’ to stop missiles, nuclear program

Speaking at a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House, Trump said Iran ignored repeated US warnings to halt its nuclear ambitions and ballistic missile development.

He described Tehran’s rapidly expanding missile program as a “very clear, colossal threat” to the United States and American forces overseas.

“This was our last best chance to strike… and eliminate the intolerable threats posed by this sick and sinister regime,” he said. “And they are indeed sick and sinister.”

Trump claims Iranian missiles capable of reaching Europe

Trump claimed Iranian leaders already possessed missiles capable of reaching Europe and US bases abroad and warned they would soon be able to strike the US mainland.

The president said the mission has four clear objectives. Destroy Iran’s missile capabilities and its ability to manufacture new weapons, Annihilate Iran’s navy, citing the destruction of 10 ships. Ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. Stop Tehran from funding, arming and directing terrorist groups beyond its borders.

“We’re destroying their missile capabilities… on an hourly basis,” Trump said, adding that the United States will “easily prevail.”
