WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Tuesday, September 9, denounced senseless crime in Democrat-run cities and said that "it's time to stop this madness".

Trump made the statement after the horrific murder of a young Ukrainian refugee, Iryna Zarutska, who fled the war in her home country in 2022 and sought safety in the United States.

Donald Trump says Zarutska was 'slaughtered by a deranged monster'

In a video by the White House, Donald Trump said, "For far too long, Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat-run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people."

The POTUS completely blamed Democratic judges and politicians for Zarutska’s death.

Trump held up a photo of Brown taken moments before the murder and said, "She was slaughtered by a deranged monster".

A North Carolina judge in January 2025 decided to release Decarlos Brown, a homeless man diagnosed with schizophrenia and a repeat offender. Brown was later charged in Zarutska’s stabbing death aboard a Charlotte light rail train.

President Trump blasted Democratic judges for Brown’s repeated releases despite his violent record.

"We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country," the POTUS said.

He added, "Twenty-four of the top 25 most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrat mayors. Fifty people were murdered in Chicago in recent weeks, with hundreds being shot."

Trump vowed to restore law and order as he declared, "It’s time to stop this madness. The people of our country need to insist on protection, safety, law & order."

The POTUS pointed to Washington, DC as an example of crime reduction and said, "We’ll do what has to be done because we’re going to make America safe again."
