Trump praises Secret Service response after WHCD shooting
In addition to providing a health update, Trump commended the response of the United States Secret Service during the incident.
He said agents acted quickly as the situation unfolded, helping to contain the threat and secure the area.
"They acted very quickly. And I was very impressed by Secret Service," Trump said.
"I think I'm the one that would complain. You don't have [complaints] from me. I would be complaining."
Secret Service Director Sean Curran said Trump had already spoken by phone with the officer who was hit by gunfire from a lone assailant during the event.
“I'm grateful that the President reached out to his officer and spoke with him earlier,” Curran said.
