HEBRON, KENTUCKY: President Donald Trump claimed that the United States “won” the Iran conflict but said the country must stay involved to “finish the job.” He made the remarks during a rally in Kentucky on Wednesday, March 11.

Trump said that in the first hour of “Operation Epic Fury,” the mission was already over. He also stated that US forces had destroyed 58 Iranian naval ships.

The Iran war has now entered its 12th day after it first began on February 28, when the US and Israel launched coordinated military strikes against Iran.

Trump claims victory in Iran war

The US and Israel have been in conflict with Iran for the past twelve days, starting with a missile strike by the US on February 28. Amid rising tensions, President Donald Trump addressed the situation during a campaign-style rally in Hebron, Kentucky.

He said, “And as we take decisive action to stop the threat posed by the regime in Iran with Operation Epic Fury.” “Is that a great name? Well, it's only good if you win. You know, you can only and week one. Let me say, week one. You know, you never like to say too early, you won't. We want, we want the best. In the first hour, it was over.”

After declaring victory, Trump stressed that the US must stay involved to complete the mission. “We gotta finish the job, right?” he added. Trump has praised the US military for weakening Iran’s forces but has resisted calling for a quick end to the conflict.

“We don’t want to leave early, do we?” Trump said. “We got to finish the job.” He also claimed that the US has “virtually destroyed Iran,” signaling that the fight could continue for now. “We don’t want to go back every two years,” he said.

Trump says Iran war ends when he decides

Previously, during an interview, Trump claimed that the war with Iran will end “soon” and could finish whenever he decides. He said there is “practically nothing left to target.”

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Trump added, “Little this and that… Any time I want it to end, it will end.” While he suggested that most objectives of the operation in Iran have been achieved, strikes and attacks in the region continue.

Earlier, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the joint US-Israel campaign would continue “as long as necessary.” Trump’s remarks came a day after he told CBS News that the war is “very complete,” claiming Iran now has no navy, no air force, and no communications.

“Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones,” Trump said. He added that Tehran now has nothing left in a “military sense.”
