WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has reportedly decided to give the White House a gold makeover, and flew in a personal contact for the job on Air Force One, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, April 16.

John Icart is a cabinetmaker from South Florida who has worked on similar projects at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. He has also helped plan many of the custom gold finishes that adorn the Oval Office in Trump's second term, such as on the fireplace mantel and the moldings that wrap around the room.

As per the publication, he is referred to by Trump advisers as the "gold guy."

Why does Donald Trump want a gold makeover for the White House?

According to the Daily Beast, Trump is known for his signature maximalist taste with an affinity for gold. He first opened up about his intention for a golden makeover of the Oval Office during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham last month, when he stated that the place "needed little life."

Claiming that gold was a symbol for angels, Trump said, "They say angels bring good luck, and we need a lot of luck in this country with what they have done over the last four years.”

The 78-year-old incumbent oversaw the golden makeover personally, insiders have revealed to the WSJ. Recent photographs of the Oval Office show the extent of the makeover, with gold trophies on the fireplace mantel replacing the plants from Joe Biden's era.

Trump has also introduced gold coasters embellished with his name, and even brought gold cherubs from Mar-a-Lago to install in the White House.
