WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump lashed out against Colorado Governor Jared Polis over a painting of him that is on display at the state Capitol, on Sunday, March 23, reported The Hill.

He claimed that his portrait was “purposefully distorted,” adding that it would be better to not have his image displayed at all.

In response to his complaint, a spokesperson for Polis told the publication, "Gov Polis was surprised to learn the President of the United States is an aficionado of our Colorado State Capitol and its artwork."

"The State Capitol was completed in 1901, and features Rose Onyx and White Yule Marble mined in Colorado, and includes portraits of former Presidents and former governors," they added.

"We appreciate the President and everyone’s interest in our capitol building and are always looking for any opportunity to improve our visitor experience.”

Donald Trump's opinion on his portrait at the Colorado Capitol

Taking to the social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, the 78-year-old incumbent went on a rant sharing the portrait in question.

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” he stated.

"The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one (of) me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older.”

"In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it!" exclaimed the POTUS, before proceeding to call out Governor Polis.

"I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down,” Trump said. “Jared should be ashamed of himself.”

According to The Hill, the incumbent was referring to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua which reportedly had a presence in the state in 2024 and had taken over an apartment building by force. Since coming into power, Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act and deported nearly 300 alleged members of the group.

Internet trolls Trump for being angry about the portrait

Netizens reacting to Trump's complaint trolled him for it on the social media platform X. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"It looks better than him irl," wrote a person.

"He should be grateful bc that picture looks way better than he ever did," seconded another.

"Bro looks about as close as a humanized Simpson character I have ever seen," quipped a third.

"Has he looked in the mirror?" jibed a fourth.

"Has he considered he’s just ugly all the time so there's no flattering pictures of him?" chided a fifth.
