Trump jokes about attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband, Internet says 'this guy is incapable of empathy'
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: Former president Donald Trump cracked a joke belittling the brutal attack on ex-House speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband.
Addressing the Fraternal Order of Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday, September 6, the GOP presidential nominee mockingly mentioned the break-in at the former House speaker's home in 2022, as per news outlet Salon.
"Nancy Pelosi has a big wall wrapped around her house. Of course, it didn't help too much with the problems she had, did it?” Trump asked.

David DePape, a Canadian conspiracy theorist, struck Paul Pelosi with a hammer, leaving the now 84-year-old with a skull fracture. The attacker was sentenced to 30 years in prison in May for assault and attempted kidnapping charges.
Trump criticizes security at Democrats' homes despite assassination attempt against him
Trump's tacky joke prompted some police officers in the crowd to chuckle awkwardly as he mentioned the attack on Paul while calling out Democratic politicians over security at their homes.
The real estate mogul accused them of "forc[ing] anarchy on the American people," adding, "They live in safety, in many cases behind walls, you know that?"
Notably, Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt nearly two months ago when a shooter opened fire at his rally in Pennsylvania. He sustained an ear injury, but the attack killed one rallygoer and left two critically injured.
Nancy denounced the assassination attempt following his narrow escape from the likely fatal bullet from would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks.
In a statement, she pointed out that she had "firsthand" experience about the harms erupting from a politically motivated attack.
During Paul's attacker, DePape's trial, prosecutors disclosed that his blog contained anti-government writing inspired by Trump.
Speaking in Charlotte, the MAGA spearhead also called out the rising crime in New York despite his youngest son, Barron Trump, recently starting college at New York University.
"The new thing in New York, you go to a pharmacy to buy aspirin, to buy a toothbrush, and it takes you 45 minutes to get a clerk to open up the glass because people are walking in and just taking as much as they want," Trump asserted adding the citizens were "getting mugged" if they left their apartments.

Netizens called out Trump's crass joke about the cruel attack on Paul. Besides slamming his lack of empathy, some noted that his remarks proved a wall was useless, referring to the border barrier construction.
"This guy is incapable of empathy. Nothing can grow his black heart," a user wrote.
"He is disgusting, infantile and dangerous," another opined.

"Says the man who stood behind of a bullet proof glass window," added a third user.
"Says the guy who not only lives behind walls, but who along with his family is costing the American taxpayer many millions of dollars for their security," read a fourth response.
"There is no wall around her house, and even if there were, Trump just proved he thinks a wall is no defense. So we spent billions on nothing," someone else said.
