Trump labeled 'hypocrite' for asking people to deprive children as old clip shows Barron with luxury toys

WASHINGTON, DC: A resurfaced clip of Donald Trump's son Barron playing with lavish toys has gone viral after the president suggested that Americans should make their children make do with fewer toys amid a self-inflicted tariff war with China.

The resurfaced clip shows a younger Barron playing with a bevy of outlandish toys, including a customized Mercedes toy car, according to the Irish Star.

Earlier in May, the POTUS said that children "will have two dolls instead of 30" this coming Christmas due to soaring tariff prices.

Moreover, Trump went on to repeat it during an interview with NBC News' 'Meet the Press' this weekend.

He told host Kristen Welker, "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."

Following his statement, a video by Entertainment Tonight resurfaced, showing a young Barron driving his own customized Mercedes toy car.

The clip, which dates back to spring 2010, features the then-four-year-old son of the POTUS, trying on a lavish gold watch and riding a large stuffed white tiger during a photo shoot with his mother, Melania Trump, per the outlet.

The video starts with Barron dressed in a white shirt and matching shorts, climbing into his red toy car. He is then seen reversing the toy car across a marble floor.

The video then shows Barron parked in front of a gold desk where Melania, donning a black suit and matching high heels, is posing for photographs, according to the Irish Star.

The young Barron then calls out "Help!", prompting Melania to leave her seat and push him around the room in his mini Mercedes.

The next scenes show Barron dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and black tie, while Melania wears a flowing asymmetrical dress and gold heels.

The video later shows Trump walking into the room and saying, "Wow, what a lovely photo that is, I don't want to interrupt that... it's a fantastic picture." 

Internet slams Donald Trump for asking people to deprive children of toys

Many internet users slammed Donald Trump for suggesting that Americans should deprive their children, as a resurfaced clip shows young Barron Trump playing with a bevy of outlandish toys.

A user wrote on X, "Baron Trump can have as many toys as he wants. It's just your kids that can't. Welcome to Donald Trump's 2025 America," while one added, "American kids can enjoy their five pencils and two dolls. Just like Barron Trump did growing up..."

A person also stated, "Hypocrite says what ??? Did you ever see the trump condo in NYC ??? Barron had toys most of us couldn’t afford even twenty years ago !!!" whereas one mentioned, "This footage from Trump Tower shows 4 yr old Barron zipping around in his custom Mercedes, putting on a gold watch & living in luxury. Hey MAGA, you're loyal to a hypocritical elitist who expects you to live frugally when the tariffs hit."

A user also posted a picture of Melania holding a baby, and everything around her is golden. The caption read, "Donald Trump: 'Maybe your kid gets just 2 dolls instead of 30'. Barron:"
