AUSTIN, TEXAS: During a Texas rally, former president Donald Trump used a homophobic insult to misgender CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd.

Trump’s comment came amid criticisms of Vice President Kamala Harris' recent Pennsylvania town hall where she discussed immigration and border control policies.

Donald Trump calls Anderson Cooper 'Allison Cooper'

As Donald Trump criticized Kamala Harris’ handling of these issues, he also targeted Anderson Cooper, calling him “Allison Cooper.”

"She refused to own up to, and last night she said she works for strong borders," Trump said, according to Raw Story.

"The night before, the town hall, with Cooper, was unbelievable. Allison Cooper got so angry," he added.

Donald Trump misgenders Anderson Cooper in Truth Social post

This echoed a similar attack Donald Trump made earlier on Truth Social, using the slur while discussing Harris, Catholics, and poll numbers.

“Kamala Harris has finally lost the Catholic vote. Her and the Democrat’s persecution of the Catholic Church is unprecedented!” Trump wrote.

He went on to claim, “Her poll numbers have dropped like a rock, both with Catholics and otherwise. RFK JR. has been pushing hard for Catholics to VOTE FOR TRUMP.”

In the post, he again misgendered Cooper as “Allison,” while criticizing Harris’ performance.

“Kamala again made a fool of herself last night at a Radical Left fundraiser, and this after putting on a very Low IQ display at a FAKE NEWS CNN Town Hall. She was almost incoherent, and even host Allison Cooper, who couldn’t get her to make any sense, became agitated,” Trump said.

Internet expresses outrage at Donald Trump's 'disgusting' slur at Anderson Cooper

Social media users shared a range of reactions to Donald Trump’s slur, with some interpreting it as "deliberate."

Former NBC executive Mike Sington criticized the comment on X, writing, “‘Allison Cooper.’ Trump is so disgusting. He posts a rant riddled with outrageous lies, but that’s not enough. He has to throw in a homophobic trope targeting Anderson Cooper."

Meanwhile, other users voiced frustration and support. One person criticized the incident, writing, “The world is laughing at us!” Another pointed out, “They laugh because they thought it was a joke, but it doesn’t appear to be.”

Trump's supporters, however, defended his words, with one commenting, “He knows how to deliver a joke, that’s for sure.”

One user noted, “And for anyone looking to try to give him the benefit of the doubt and that he just ‘misspoke,’ he has already used this moniker today on Truth Social. He’s deliberately mocking Anderson Cooper for being gay. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.”

Another reaction on X read, “Cognitive decline,” while a supporter commented, “Hahahahahaa I’m dying! Prob watched a couple times! TRUMP."
