WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump took aim at two familiar critics during his speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner on Friday, July 24, using the annual gathering to mock rock legend Bruce Springsteen and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Speaking before hundreds of journalists at the Waldorf Astoria, Trump mixed political humor with celebrity references as he addressed one of Washington's biggest media events.

Donald Trump mocks Bruce Springsteen over political concerts

Trump first turned his attention to Springsteen, questioning the direction the singer's performances have taken in recent years.

"What about Bruce Springsteen? What the hell happened to that guy?" Trump asked the audience.

He then claimed the musician had focused too heavily on politics during a recent performance instead of music.

"At a recent concert, all he did was talk politics. … He made four political speeches in his three-hour show. The tour has been renamed 'Bored in the USA,'" Trump joked, drawing laughter from guests gathered inside the Waldorf Astoria ballroom.

Donald Trump turns Chris Christie into another punchline

After aiming at Springsteen, Trump shifted his attention to former New Jersey Gov Chris Christie with another joke.

"And I see Chris Christie there again, high-fiving Bruce Springsteen in the aisle," Trump said before delivering the punchline.

"And Bruce Springsteen saw him and didn't even lift his hand up," he added.

The joke drew another round of laughter as Trump continued weaving celebrity references into his speech.

Donald Trump says he plans to return to the correspondents' dinner

Along with delivering jokes aimed at political and cultural figures, Trump ended his remarks by suggesting he intends to attend the White House Correspondents' Association dinner again next year.
