DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA: President Donald Trump said he would consider introducing federal tax credits for Hollywood as film industry executives seek meetings with his administration, arguing that the US entertainment industry is losing jobs to other countries.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Daytona Beach on Friday, October 30, Trump claimed that people in Hollywood who had criticized him for years were now approaching the White House to request incentives for film and television production. He suggested he could approve the proposal, although he did not provide details about the potential tax credit program.

Trump claims Hollywood executives are seeking meetings
Trump told the rally audience that Hollywood representatives were contacting him to discuss tax credits, claiming the industry was struggling as other countries attracted more film production.
"Now they're all calling me, kissing my a*s. They want tax credits for Hollywood because Hollywood's dying and other countries are taking away [jobs]," Trump said.

He described meetings with entertainment industry representatives who allegedly praised him despite previously making negative comments about his presidency.
"Guys that have been saying bad crap about me for years are sitting in my office, 'Sir, it's a great honor to be with you, sir,'" he said.
Trump added that he could use online searches to review what people had said about him in the past before meeting them.
Trump says he may approve film tax incentives
Trump indicated that he was open to providing tax credits to support Hollywood, saying, "Now they want tax credits because their industry is dying in this country. And I'll probably do it."
However, he did not outline how such incentives would work, which productions could qualify or when a proposal might be introduced.

His remarks came amid concerns about film and television production moving outside the United States, with other countries offering financial incentives to attract studios and production companies.
The potential federal tax credit initiative could be aimed at making domestic production more competitive, although Trump did not announce a formal policy or provide a timeline.
The president's comments came during a campaign appearance at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, where he was supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Trump also used the speech to criticize Hollywood figures who have publicly opposed him, including actor Robert De Niro. However, his remarks about film tax credits focused on the industry's requests for federal incentives and his willingness to consider them.
