Trump rages at SCOTUS for no ‘courage’ to Save America as ballot ruling raises midterm stakes
WASHINGTON, DC: In a lengthy social media screed, President Donald Trump railed against the US Supreme Court for ruling that his administration cannot move forward with proposed mail-in ballot rules ahead of midterms.
In a major blow to Trump, the Supreme Court rejected the federal government’s mail-in ballot proposal for the third time by refusing to let the government implement the US Postal Service (USPS) restrictions on mail-in ballots.
Trump says Supreme Court lacks courage to save America
President Donald Trump early on Tuesday, Sept 15, wrote a long Truth Social post thrashing the Supreme Court’s third ruling against the mail-in ballot rules formed by USPS after an executive order by Trump in March 2026.
Trump administration had directed the USPS to implement strict, uniform ballot and envelope requirements. Under the rules, states would need to submit lists of eligible mail-in voters to the Postal Service.
The order gave the USPS authority to refuse to deliver any ballot that didn’t match the details shared by the state.
Trump accused the Supreme Court of lacking the “courage” to save America, stressing that the court has “let the country down.”
"The Supreme Court has really let our Country down! Certain Justices are petrified of these crazed and depraved Democrats, and are totally unable to show the courage necessary to save our America," Trump said about the court, with three of the nine justices appointed by himself.
The ruling was announced by a 7-2 majority. Trump called the two dissenting justices, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, "legends."
Trump blames court delay for no-time to implement rules
Trump began his post by describing the court decision as bad for Republicans, then shifted to ripping the court for delaying the ruling and later arguing that there was no time left to implement the new mail-in ballot rules to get rid of the “corrupt” system.
"Republicans just got another bad decision from the United States Supreme Court, one that the Court System took forever to give," Trump posted.
Adding, “then blamed it, in part, on no time left to implement a solution to our totally CORRUPT and out of control Mail-In voting 'disaster,' which is a laughing stock all over the World, and where we are the only country that has to endure such a nation-destroying SCAM."
The president also revived his criticism of two earlier rulings on his tariff policy, which he said would cost the country "Trillions and Trillions of Dollars," and on birthright citizenship, which he called "a complete and total disaster" that has "already led to massive corruption with respect to 'citizenship' in our Country."
Trump says criticism of court will cost him for years
Trump further argued that he is paying a price to call out the High Court and the criticism will likely cost him dearly “for years to come.”
"It is not easy for me to write this criticism of the United States Supreme Court – it will likely cost me dearly for years to come – but I feel it my obligation and duty, as President, to do so for the America we love!" Trump wrote, closing with "God bless the USA"
Trump argues that current rules make mail-in ballot ‘cheating’ easier, which is a major concern for him and many Republicans. He has earlier claimed that the 2020 general election was stolen from him through cheating.
