LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA: Donald Trump boldly claimed that he did not have any "cognitive problems" while addressing a town hall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 20.

The 78-year-old former president however made several gaffes during the event which sharply undermined his statement, as per the Daily Mail.

Kamala Harris' campaign was quick to spot them and uploaded clips from the event on social media platforms.

Donald Trump says he has 'no cognitive' at Lancaster town hall

Donald Trump began to fumble at the very beginning of the event as he sat with the moderator, ESPN anchor Sage Steele, who he referred to as "Paige."

He moved on to defend his age and mental acuity, being the oldest major party candidate to run for the White House in the history of the US. Trump referred to his recent interaction with the Wall Street editorial board and insisted that they said, "The one thing we know is that he’s got no cognitive problem."

Trying to flip the table on Harris, he remarked, "She may have. I have no cognitive – she may have a cognitive problem. But there’s no cognitive problem." The "I have no cognitive" gaffe was pointed out by the Harris camp in an X (formerly Twitter) post.

While Harris has released her medical records, Trump has repeatedly denied doing the same. More than 230 health care professionals have called on him to release his medical records, arguing that he should be transparent about his health "given his advancing age," as per CBS News

Scrutiny over his mental fitness has grown, especially following the Philadelphia campaign event where he played music for over half an hour rather than taking questions from the audience.

"And I actually call for a cognitive test for all people wanting to run for president. Not based on age. Some of the greatest leaders in the world - and I’m not 80 and I’m not that close to 80," expressed the 78-year-old MAGA spearhead.

When an attendee interrupted to mention a Pennsylvania Republican lawmaker, Trump demonstrated how long he has been in the circles by saying, "Stan Musial? Oh I see (Congressman) Dan Meuser. Is Dan here? I thought he said Stan Musial – Stan the Man, remember?"

Stan Musial, the St Louis Cardinals legend, died in 2013 at the age of 92.

Internet trolls Donald Trump as he tries to defend his age and mental acuity

Netizens ridiculed Donald Trump as he tried to defend his mental acuity during the Lancaster, Pennsylvania town hall.

One wrote, "NEVER fails, when you think Trump can’t get dumber, he exceeds all expectations," and another said, "Old man can’t even finish a sentence."

"Release your medical report then!" exclaimed a person, while someone else jibed, "He’s got no cognitive all right… no cognitive function!"

"If Trump has to repeatedly say it then he definitely got a cognitive problem," remarked an individual.

One more stated, "Yeah, he's got no cognitive left, didn't have much to begin with,"
