WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump said on Wednesday, March 4, that he will soon announce his support for a candidate in the Texas GOP Senate primary while also noting that he’ll ask the other guy to “drop out of the race”. The president, however, did not clarify whom he would endorse between Texas Senator John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Trump stated on his Truth Social page after the two Republican candidates moved toward a May runoff in the Senate GOP primary by throwing out Republican Wesley Hunt. Cornyn led the Texas GOP Primary by a few margins.

Trump claims 'almost everyone I endorse wins'

The US commander-in-chief wrote on the online platform, “We have an easy to beat, Radical Left Opponent, and we have to TOTALLY FOCUS on putting him away, quickly and decisively! Both John and Ken ran great races, but not good enough. Now, this one, must be PERFECT!”

“I will be making my Endorsement soon, and will be asking the candidate that I don’t Endorse to immediately DROP OUT OF THE RACE!” Trump said, but without specifying who he wants to be out.

In his post, he also claimed that his “Endorsements within the Republican Party have been virtually insurmountable! It is such an honor to realize and say that almost everyone I Endorse WINS, and wins by a lot, especially in Texas!” before adding, “We must win in November!!!”

Trump's allies want him to support John Cornyn

Meanwhile, reports have said that Trump’s political advisors are expecting him to show his support to Cornyn for the May 26 Republican-primary runoff election because of Paxton’s personal and ethical problems.

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said, “I would encourage the president to endorse him [Cornyn].”

John Thune believes Trump's endorsement will save GOP's money

Terry Richardson for saving 85 lives of fellow soldiers during the Vietnam War; and Staff Sgt. Michael Ollis who died in the Afghanistan War when he shielded another soldier from a suicide bomber. Senate Majority Leader John Thune also wants Trump to endorse Cornyn, as he claimed on Wednesday, “[If] Trump endorses early, it saves everybody a lot of money, and … 10 weeks of a spirited campaign on our side that keeps us from spending time focusing on the Democrats.”

However, Texas GOP Chairman Abraham George said that the final decision is in the hands of the voters. He stated, “I will have to say it is up to the people in Texas to make that choice who they're going to elect.”

“If he cuts a deal with one of the candidates, that's between him and the candidate. But if both of those candidates are going to be on the ballot, as far as I can tell, that's the plan now,” George added.

On the other hand, Democrats have sided with Texas state Representative James Talarico, who won the Democratic primary for Senate after defeating Representative Jasmine Crockett.
