Trump says US is 'winning big' in Iran, promises Americans will see results 'very shortly'
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump declared Thursday that the United States is "winning big" in Iran and promised Americans will see the tangible results of his administration's foreign policy strategy "very, very shortly," as he touted US military strength and pointed to Venezuela as a blueprint for what his approach can achieve.
Speaking during his primetime address, Trump said recent investments in the American military have left the country in an unrivaled position of global strength. "We have the strongest and most powerful military in the world," he said, crediting his administration's decisions to rebuild and expand military capabilities as central to the leverage the US now holds in the region.

Trump did not offer a specific timeline or detail what form the promised results would take, but said the American public would not have to wait long to see the fruits of the administration's strategy in Iran.

The remarks came as US forces have struck more than 300 Iranian military targets over the course of three separate rounds of strikes this week alone, targeting missile and drone sites, naval assets, ammunition depots and surveillance infrastructure.
The conflict began after Iran attacked commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which CENTCOM said US forces have helped keep open for the transit of more than 800 commercial vessels carrying approximately 400 million barrels of crude oil since early May.
Despite the exchange of military strikes, the administration has continued to pursue diplomatic channels, with Vice President JD Vance, Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio all directed to press ahead with negotiations expected to resume in Oman.
Trump cites Venezuela as proof his foreign policy strategy works
Alongside his remarks on Iran, Trump held up Venezuela as proof that his broader approach to adversarial nations is working.
He said Venezuela is now cooperating with the United States to produce "millions and millions of barrels of oil," describing the development as a major diplomatic breakthrough that demonstrates what his administration's strategy of pressure and engagement can deliver.
The US has maintained a complex relationship with Venezuela since the Trump administration orchestrated the removal of former President Nicolas Maduro earlier this year, with interim leadership under Delcy Rodriguez subsequently cooperating with Washington on multiple fronts, including oil production and security cooperation.
Following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela in June, Rodriguez publicly thanked Trump and his administration for leading a swift humanitarian response that included $150 million in aid and the deployment of hundreds of American rescue personnel.
Trump framed both Iran and Venezuela as examples of a consistent foreign policy doctrine, arguing that strength and direct engagement produce results where years of diplomatic caution had failed.
The primetime address, which also covered election security and domestic policy priorities, was billed by the White House as one of the most significant presidential addresses of Trump's second term.
