WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump escalated his public back-and-forth with the Biden family this week after sharing an edited image of Hunter Biden on social media, coming shortly after questions about a possible 2028 presidential run for the former president’s son.

The post, shared on Trump’s Truth Social account, used a modified version of a photo Hunter Biden had recently posted online. In the altered image, Hunter appeared to be sketching a portrait of Trump under the words “Greatest President,” drawing renewed attention to the online exchange between the two.

Trump responds to 2028 speculation involving Hunter Biden

The image surfaced after Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked Trump about growing online discussion around Hunter Biden and a possible 2028 presidential bid.

The altered image was based on a photograph Biden had posted days earlier showing himself sketching at a desk.

"[Hunter Biden's] on social media now, and he has suggested—maybe joking, I don't know—that he could run for president in 2028. How would he do, Hunter Biden, in a 2028 Democratic primary?" Doocy asked Trump.

Trump responded by pointing to Hunter’s past.

"You would think that the past has something to do with winning an election. And I would say his past is not the greatest," Trump said.

Hunter Biden has become more active on social media in recent weeks, fueling discussion among supporters and critics after engaging with posts speculating about a possible 2028 run.

The exchange quickly gained traction online, where supporters of both men circulated clips of Trump’s remarks and screenshots of the edited image.

Hunter Biden’s online activity fuels renewed political chatter

The president also referenced several Democratic figures while weighing in on how a hypothetical Hunter Biden campaign might fare.

"Hey, if the guy from Maine can do well," Trump said, referring to Maine Democrat Graham Platner, who is set to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins. "Well, I guess Hunter could do well, too, because the guy from Maine is a basket case."

Trump also targeted Texas Democrat James Talarico.

"And I would say worse than him is the one from Texas that looks like Alfred E. Neuman," Trump said. "I would say that if he can do well, maybe Hunter can do well. I'm not sure, it'll be pretty close as far as I'm concerned."

Earlier this week, Hunter responded to a viral X post imagining him as the Democratic nominee in 2028. When presented with a hypothetical matchup against Vice President JD Vance, he replied: "LFG," short for "let's f---ing go."

He also reacted after Trump questioned his record.

"Wait…Did he just say checkered past? I'm 28 felonies, 6 bankruptcies, and an Epstein bromance short of his checkered past," he wrote on X.

For years, Hunter Biden has remained a prominent figure in American political debates, often drawing attention due to his personal struggles, federal convictions, and business dealings.

Before leaving office, former President Joe Biden granted his son a full pardon, a move that sparked criticism from political opponents.
