PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump shared a letter of support from some of the families of soldiers who died in the 2021 Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan, after his team's altercation with Arlington National Cemetery.

The letter said Trump and his team "conducted themselves with nothing but the utmost respect and dignity for all of our service members."

The Arlington National Cemetery released a statement on Tuesday, August 27, and confirmed that it had an altercation with Trump's team.

The statement read, "We can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed. Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign."

It added, "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

Notably, Title 32, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Section 553.32(c) mentions "Memorial services and ceremonies at Army National Military Cemeteries will not include partisan political activities."

However, the family members mentioned they had given Trump's team approval to bring a campaign photographer and videographer into the event to ensure "these sacred moments of remembrance were respectfully captured."

They wrote, "We are deeply grateful to the president for taking the time to honor our children and for standing alongside us in our grief, offering his unwavering support during such a difficult time."

Trump's campaign also denied that there was any altercation which was initially reported by NPR as a 'verbal and physical altercation.'

Trump's campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said, "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made. The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of president Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony."

Cheung also posted a screenshot on X showing a media permission form stating that Trump was permitted to have a photographer and videographer outside the main media pool.

A person also stated, "But you didn't have permission from the cemetery itself.... Those are sacred grounds and those weren't the only 2 buried there," whereas one mentioned, "Problem is it disrespected all of the other families with loved ones there by making it a partisan political act."

A user wrote, "The s**t show, episode 1,247," while one commented, "Where was Trump on the first and second anniversaries? Really odd how he only shows concern during an election year."

A person added, "Only 2 of 13 families were there. What about the other families? Why weren’t they present? Maybe didn’t approve of the photo op."
