DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Former president Donald Trump falsely asserted that the US soldiers had no ammunition because "we gave it all away," Mediaite reported.

Speaking at the National Guard Association of the United States conference in Detroit, Michigan, on Monday, August 26, the GOP presidential nominee got sidetracked and weighed in on the current situation of the American military's munitions capacity.

"I had ammunition," Trump claimed about the conditions under his presidency.

“We had so much it was coming out of our gills, right? I had ammunition. I said, ‘Oh, what the hell do we do with all this ammunition?’ We had so much. And now we don’t have ammunition again. We gave it all away to different groups, but mostly into Ukraine. And we don’t have ammunition," he added.

Donald Trump claims US military gave ammunition to other countries

Before baselessly claiming that the US gave away its ammunition to other countries, Donald Trump acted out an alleged conversation he had with an anonymous person during his time in the Oval Office.

To the unnamed person, the 45th president asked, "How we doing militarily?" to which the individual responded, "We have a problem, Sir." Trump then asked, "What is it?" and the anonymous person said, "We have no ammunition."

The real estate mogul labeled the circumstance "lousy" and added he did not want to let the enemy know the US did not have ammunition. He then expressed reluctance to reveal to Chinese President Xi Jinping that the country had no munitions and went on baselessly claiming the US military was back to the situation prior to his presidency.

Under the administration of President Joe Biden, the US supplied a substantial amount of ammunition to Ukraine in support of its war against the Russian invasion. Similarly, weapons shipments to Israel started when the conflict with Hamas broke out in October 2023.

In 2019, while he was president, Trump made a similar claim that he revived the ammunition capacity.

“When I took over, it was a mess," he said at the time. “One of our generals came in to see me and he said, ‘Sir, we don’t have ammunition.’ I said, ‘That’s a terrible thing you just said'.”

Donald Trump slammed for claiming US military has no ammunition

Outraged at Donald Trump's false claims that the US military did not have ammunition because everything was given away to other countries, netizens labeled the ex-president a "liar."

"I grasp that he's a former POTUS. But NGAUS likewise needs to grasp that this same man is denigrating and demeaning our Veterans and U.S. Service Members out one side of his mouth while spouting nonsense, platitudes, and empty promises out the other to your conference attendees," a user wrote.

"A new level of disgusting. This must end on November 5th!" another user said.

"What insane idiot would go on international TV and claim the US military has no ammunition? Especially if that person is a presidential candidate? Thank god most everyone knows Trump is insane. Otherwise this could be a serious national security issue," said a user.

"Dementia Don now claims our military doesn't have any ammunition because we gave it all away! Seriously he's insane!" read another response.

"Liar. We have the most supplied armed forces in the world thanks to our ammunition factories!!" someone else chimed in.

"@realDonaldTrump is so incredibly stupid. This is who the Republicans have chosen to represent us on the world stage? A bumbling moron who goes on TV and announces that the US military is "out" of ammunition? How embarrassing. Good job, MAGA. Imbeciles," an individual wrote.

"This is why some MSM outlets stop showing his rallies. They know it’s mass misinformation and it’s just criminal at this point," another added.

"He will say anything no matter how big a lie and doesn't care if he gets checked. He's on to the next lie," read one remark.
