WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump seemingly threw shade at his son, Donald Trump Jr, as he explained his son’s reaction to the assassination attempt on him that took place last year in Butler, Pennsylvania.

President Trump put on his supposedly religious mannerisms and told a story that was supposed to make Don Jr look good, but it seemed as if it was a subtle jibe at the first son, per Nicki Swift.

Trump explains Don Jr’s reaction to assassination attempt

While speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, February 6, President Trump discussed the harrowing events in Butler when there was an assassination attempt on him.

During his speech, he casually poked at just how godly Don Jr has become lately. The president told a story about how Don Jr was convinced “God was watching” that day and ensured the president's safety. He added that Don Jr felt “there had to be someone who saved you. I think I know who it is”.

Trump added, “He gained some religion. He went up 25 percent. And if you know him, that's a lot.”

This subtle jab comes after Don Jr’s split from ex-Kimberly Guilfoyle and the first son has started dating his new girlfriend, Bettina Anderson.

Notably, it raised eyebrows when Bettina Anderson tried to soft launch her relationship with Don Jr before he had officially announced his split from ex-Kimberly Guilfoyle, per the outlet.

Interestingly, Don Jr and Guilfoyle started dating when he was still married to his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, which led Vanessa to divorce him.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s stating that Don Jr meant “God is watching” could be an indirect jab at the first son considering he went on dates with Anderson before properly ending things with Guilfoyle.

Internet trolls Trump and Don Jr after his speech

Several internet users slammed Donald Trump and Don Jr as the president seemingly threw shade at his son as he explained his reaction to the assassination attempt.

A user wrote on X, “Only 25%?….” while one added, “He measured his offspring in percentages, as if life itself is a poll.”

A person also stated, “Trump has a Jesus detector?” whereas one mentioned, “Is he calling his own son a heathen? Zero shock though.”

A user also wrote, “Don jr realized that god didn’t grant his wish!” while one commented, “So, he used the Prayer Breakfast to mock Christians? "He went up 25%" ....Faith isn't a memecoin #Trump.”

A person added, “It's like Don Jr is a video game character and he leveled up his Religion skill,” whereas one stated, “Don Jr found religion and a new grirfriend, but It didn’t change Daddy at all. It made him worse.”
