MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Donald Trump's unfiltered approach to social media is creating new challenges as he navigates his 2024 presidential campaign.

The former president openly acknowledged his tendency to repost content without thorough vetting, a habit that has led to backlash.

"I do a lot of reposting. The ones you get in trouble with are the reposts," Trump admitted during a podcast with Lex Fridman. "Because you find out, down deep, they're into some group that you're not supposed to be reposting. You don't even know if those groups are good, bad or indifferent. When you do your own words, it's sort of easier, but the reposts go very quickly. And if you gotta check every single little symbol..."

Donald Trump under fire for reposts of 'QAnon memes'

Criticism quickly followed as political commentators and voters questioned Donald Trump's judgment in sharing unverified content. "Trump concedes that maybe reposting memes and videos from QAnon accounts and nut jobs on Truth Social, such as his recent one about Harris and oral s**, might not be the smartest thing for his campaign," captioned political pundit Ron Filipkowski sharing a clip of the podcast.

Previously, Trump shared a parody of Alanis Morissette's hit song 'Ironic', targeting Vice President Kamala Harris by mocking her intelligence and implying that she used sexual favors to climb the political ladder, confirmed Ok! "She spent her whole d*** life // Down on her knees // To be commander in chief // That's how you say please," the altered lyrics stated. "Isn't it moronic // Don't you think a little too moronic // Yeah, I really can't think."

Donald Trump doubles down on attacks against Kamala Harris

However, Donald Trump’s own posts have attracted similar criticism. Following President Joe Biden's decision to step down and endorse Kamala Harris, the twice impeached 78-year-old has repeatedly and falsely labeled her as a "Marxist" and a "communist."

"Comrade Kamala is a STONE COLD LOSER, she will FAIL and, if she doesn’t, our Country will cease to exist as we know it, turning into a Communist, Crime Ridden Garbage Dump," Trump declared in an August post on Truth Social. "November 5th will be the Most Important Date in the History of the U.S.A. It’s as simple as that!"

Social media erupts over Donald Trump’s reposting habits

Donald Trump’s recent admission about his tendency to repost controversial content without proper vetting has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.

"And then he will go right back to do it again...," a user tweeted.

"But since when has self control ever stopped me right? " another said.

"Acting like he don’t know.," one more added..

"He should keep doing that though so more people understand that he is a piece of garbage," read a tweet.

"Oh no, dude, keep those memes and posts coming," penned a user.

"By reposting, I can pretend I have deniability because I wasn't lying. The original poster was, and that's not my fault. But I keep getting in trouble for it! I'll keep doing it of course, because I enjoy acting like a victim while spreading lies about my perceived enemies." commented a user.

"Well… besides that," chimed another.

"Then read before you repost, dufus!" stated a user.

"So it's only because he's gotten in trouble that he's rethinking it? Lol," read a tweet.
