WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump issued threats against several countries just days after the US operation in Venezuela.

Trump issued blunt warnings to Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Iran and even renewing calls to annex Greenland.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump suggested the Venezuela operation could signal further action elsewhere, making clear that other governments were now under US scrutiny.

Multiple countries in Trump’s crosshairs

Trump singled out Colombia in unusually harsh terms. “Colombia is very sick, too. Run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States, and he’s not going to be doing it very long,” Trump said.

When asked whether the US could carry out a military operation against Colombia, Trump replied “It sounds good to me.”

Mexico was also warned to act decisively against d*ug cartels. “We’re going to have to do something. We’d love Mexico to do it, they’re capable of doing it, but unfortunately the cartels are very strong in Mexico” ,Trump said.

Trump added that the US has offered assistance to Mexican authorities to combat cartel violence. Trump also spoke about Cuba's collapse after Maduro's arrest.

“Cuba is ready to fall. Cuba looks like it’s ready to fall. I don’t know if they’re going to hold out,” he said.  “They got all of their income from Venezuela”, Trump added.

Sen Lindsey Graham, who was traveling with Trump, echoed the sentiment, saying Cuba’s days “are numbered”.

Trump renews call to annex Greenland, Warns Iran

Trump also reiterated his long-standing interest in Greenland, renewing calls for US control of the Danish territory. “We need Greenland, from the standpoint of national security,” President Trump said.

Turning eastward, he also warned Iran amid ongoing protests.

“If they start killing people like they have in the past, I think they’re going to get hit very hard by the United States,” he said.

Global pushback after Venezuela operation

Trump's action in Venezuela hasn't sit right with leaders of multiple nations.

Responding to Trump's re-iteration of Greenland takeover, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reportedly said that a “US takeover of Greenland would effectively bring NATO to an end”.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also reiterated Mexico's opposition to Washington's extradition of Venezuela's president and to any kind of intervention in Mexico.
