WASHINGTON, DC: A solemn Memorial Day tribute at Arlington National Cemetery on May 27, Tuesday turned unexpectedly viral and not for the reasons one might expect.

While President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance paid their respects to fallen soldiers, a video from the event triggered a fresh wave of online chatter, questioning Trump’s long-standing claim of being 6-foot-3, reports Nicki Swift.

Memorial Day video fuels fresh debate over Trump’s reported 6'3'' stature

In the video, Vance appears noticeably taller than Trump, despite official reports that the president stands at 6 feet 3 inches.

According to Will Martin, Vance’s communications director, the vice president is 6'2" which visually contradicts Trump’s listed height. The internet was quick to pounce, with commentators highlighting the height gap and accusing Trump of exaggerating his stature once again.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s height has come under fire. Comparisons to other public figures including 6'3'' Prince William during a visit to Notre Dame in 2024 have also left onlookers skeptical. In each instance, the president has appeared visibly shorter than men he is allegedly equal to in height.

Trump recently poked fun at his youngest son, Barron, who's turned heads with his remarkable growth spurt. As of May 2025, the 19-year-old stands at a towering 6 feet 7 inches often making him the tallest presence in any room.

The internet is buzzing after a photo showing Vice President JD Vance towering over President Donald Trump reignited long-standing skepticism about Trump’s claimed height.

Online commentators didn’t hold back.

One wrote, “Trump claims two inches of his height are lost in his top heavy lean.” Another expressed, “Maybe JD is wearing heels today.”

“Trump looks shorter than Drunkly Pete who’s 6ft. Trump lied about his height and he definitely didn’t ‘shrink’ 3-4 inches lol,” one user mocked.

Others speculated about footwear and fudged stats, “And Trump wears lifts. I suspect he’s maybe 5’10, max.”

“Elon and Vance are 6'3". Donald says he is 6'2" when in fact Don is 6'0".”

“I expect that Trump has lifts in his shoes too,” another commented.
