PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received an unexpected compliment on Monday, August 5, from former President Donald Trump, who told online streamer Adin Ross that the congresswoman has "a good spark."

During an interview on Kick with internet personality Ross, Trump was shown photos of various celebrities and lawmakers and asked for his reactions.

Donald Trump Trump initially dismissed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's photo as fake

Upon seeing Ocasio-Cortez's photo, the former president's initial response was, "Fake," The Hill reported.

“But in all fairness, but she knows it. She’s got a thing going. But it’s a good thing. Good thing for her,” Trump remarked. “She’s got a spark that’s pretty amazing actually. She’s got a good spark. I’ll change it. I’ll say spark.”

Trump mentioned that Ocasio-Cortez's emergence in politics reminded him of Argentina's former first lady, Eva Peron. He also stated that he had cautioned aides to former Representative Joe Crowley (D-NY) about Ocasio-Cortez's potential political threat during the 2018 primary.

Ultimately, Crowley was defeated by Ocasio-Cortez in that primary.

“She’s got a lot of sizzle,” Trump stated.

Donald Trump once compared AOC to Eva Peron

Trump's comparison of Ocasio-Cortez to Peron was previously covered by author Tim Alberta.

In 2019, during interviews for 'American Carnage', the former president recounted that he was watching television with his political advisers when he first observed Ocasio-Cortez campaigning against the long-serving Democratic Representative Joe Crowley.

“I see a young woman ranting and raving like a lunatic on a street corner, and I said: ‘That’s interesting, go back,'” he states in the book, as per excerpts acquired by The Guardian.

“She’s got talent. Now, that’s the good news. The bad news: she doesn’t know anything. She’s got a good sense, an ‘it’ factor, which is pretty good, but she knows nothing. But with time, she has real potential,” Trump said about the first-term congresswoman.

”I called her Eva Peron,” Trump revealed. “I said, ’That’s Eva Peron. That’s Evita.'”

Trump has repeatedly attacked Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Ocasio-Cortez and other progressive members of the Squad have been the target of repeated attacks by Trump, who once advised Democratic lawmakers to "go back" to their home countries in 2019.

Since her election to Congress in 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been an unrelenting opponent of President Trump. After President Biden withdrew his candidacy in late July, the congresswoman promised Vice President Harris her "full support."

“Now more than ever, it is crucial that our party and country swiftly unite to defeat Donald Trump and the threat to American democracy. Let’s get to work,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on the social platform X.

Eva Peron, the wife of former Argentina President Juan Peron, was an advocate for the poor and championed women's suffrage prior to her passing in 1952.

The third commentator wrote, "Donald has been known to lie."

An X user mocked, "He is absolutely obsessed with Evita. During Covid, @Acosta would call him “Covita”".
