So far this fiscal year, TSA has been shut down 85 days, nearly 50% of the time, resulting in almost $1 billion in missed paychecks for workers. Despite this, over 61,000 TSA employees (95% of the workforce) are still required to work without pay, leading to severe financial hardship. Officials say some workers are missing bills, losing homes, and even sleeping in cars while continuing to secure airports.
