Christmas Day Rescue: Suffolk County Police Rescue 8-Year-Old After He Falls Through Frozen Pond

The joy of Christmas could have turned into tragedy if it wasn't for the quick response of a trio of Suffolk County Police officers who saved a boy who fell through a partially frozen pond in East Patchogue on Christmas Day. After venturing out into the middle of a pond in the Heatherwood Lakeside Village apartment complex, 8-year-old Tayvion found himself in waist-deep water after the ice gave way and was unable to free himself. Highway Sergeant Michael Santillo and Fifth Precinct Officers James Rizzo and Andrew Tirelli rescued the boy, who upon returning to dry land, was cold and wet but uninjured.
