'Hero' Cricketer Makes Catch of a Lifetime, as Child Falls From Window Ledge

A restaurant manager in London said he acted on “pure instinct” when he saw a young girl hanging perilously from the balcony ledge of an upper-floor flat, and he thanked his cricket skills after he was able to catch her when she lost her grip. Dimpi Masarang was among the concerned crowd gathered below at street level, and he recorded this footage of the dramatic scene, in Ilford. As the crowd watches on, a police officer arrives below the girl. He’s then joined by a man identified as Mohamed Jesil. Between them, Jesil and the officer are able to catch the girl when she falls. Jesil told Metro his “cricket skills” helped him make the vital catch, and said he reacted on instinct to the scene, thinking of his own twin daughters when he saw the danger.
