Surf Coach Saves Father and Daughter From Rip Current
A Southern California surf coach was hailed a hero after saving a father and daughter from a rip current in Oceanside Harbor. According to local news reports, the rescue occurred during the Western Surfing Association (WSA) Oceanside Harbor South Jetty surf contest, where Westcliff College’s Lucas Taub was coaching from the jetty. This video, taken by a bystander, shows the moment Taub jumped into action and swam toward the pair and brought them safely back to shore. “Coach, Warrior, and now life saver,” Westcliff College said in an Instagram post about Taub. “Proud is an understatement. This morning, live on @kusinews, Westcliff’s own surf team head coach Lucas Taub was interviewed, detailing his heroic efforts from last weekend where he jumped into the waters without hesitation to help a young daughter and father who got caught in strong ocean currents. “A true champion of character, Lucas has continuously given back to the community.”
