WASHINGTON, DC: Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo testified over Covid-era nursing home policy during his time in office to a GOP-led House panel.

In his six-minute-long statement, Cuomo started by apologizing and expressing sympathy for Covid-19 victims, and their families.

“I am sorry for your loss and I believe you are owed an apology because this country should have done better,” Cuomo said.

Andrew Cuomo switched to then-president Donald Trump and held him responsible for pandemic response while appearing before a GOP-led House panel on Tuesday, September 10.

The ex-governor called the federal response to the pandemic “malpractice,” “From day one, he willfully deceived the American people, denying Covid’s very real threat. His lies and denials delayed our response, let the virus spread and this country never caught up.”

Referring to the short supply of necessary medical supplies in the early stages of the pandemic, Cuomo added, “It was the Covid hunger games, the federal government was nowhere to be found,” reported CNN.

Republican leaders strongly reacted to Cuomo’s testimony, where Rep Nicole Malliotakis, a New York Republican, said, “You’ve shown no empathy, you’ve shown no remorse, you’ve shown no responsibility for the actions of your administration. That’s just not leadership.”

Internet reacts to Andrew Cuomo's accusations against Donald Trump's government

Netizens responded to ex-governor of New York during his testimony on Tuesday. Many felt that Andrew Cuomo was simply shifting the blame on Donald Trump's administration and running away from accountability.

An X user said, "No one cares what he thinks, he's a perv and an incompetent governor."

"The only purveyors of misinformation during Covid were the government and CDC," a second wrote.

One chimed, "Except when he sent you a military medical ship that you never used…."

"Well stated, @andrewcuomo. The republican party saw everything you described. They let Trump get away with it all. Trump is more toxic now than he was then. Thank you for speaking the truth," another agreed.

An individual speculated, "Judicial Watch has proof now through emails obtained from FOI that Dr. Fauci knew from day one where this virus originated and tried to hide it leading to people dying from being put on ventilators."

"I remember when Trump mentioned Covid in the State of The Union speech. Nobody talked about it until it was 'convenient'. The only thing talked about was Nancy tearing the speech in half. Not buying the former govenors talk, I’m sorry," one felt.
