WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump, during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, revealed how his wife Melania reacted as she watched the assassination attempt live.

On July 13, the former president was attacked by a shooter named Thomas Crooks during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. A bullet grazed Trump's right ear and ended up killing one spectator and injuring two. He was soon taken down by Secret Service Snipers.

During the interview, Laura Ingraham asked former President Trump how Melania handled the stressful day at home. Trump said, "She was watching. She was watching live. It was all over the place. It was on television."

He added, "She can't even really talk about it. That's okay, that means she likes me, she loves me. She could talk about it freely, I'm not so sure which is better. She either likes or loves me, that's nice."

He further stressed, "I just want to say one thing about the Secret Service, they were very brave. They were coming. Bullets were flying over me. I went down and they were on top of me, I had a lot of very big, strong people on top of me."

Melania called on Americans to "ascend above hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence" in a statement she released the day after the shooting incident.

Moreover, Melania, who often stays away from the limelight, made an appearance during the Republican National Convention on Thursday, July 18, in support of Trump’s third bid for president.

According to reports, the former First Lady does not want to move into the White House if Trump is elected president and would rather split her time between Florida and New York.

Axios added that Melania would turn up to the White House during ceremonies and special events and would be a part-time First Lady if Trump wins the presidential election.

Melania Trump keeps her son Barron away from politics

Melania Trump's close friend and former White House assistant asserts that the former first lady was against Barron Trump's intended path into the political limelight, according to Newsweek.

When in May 2024 it was announced that Barron would be a Florida delegate at the Republican National Convention in July, Melania shot down the prospects a day later via an official statement.

A  spokeswoman for Melania said, "While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments."

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the former first lady's official appointment, said, during an interview with MeidasTouch host Ben Meisela, "Barron's involvement in the Trump political arena is one that I know he and Melania stayed away from for many reasons."

She added, "But he being put on the front line that way, if it was going to be the case Melania would have supported it 100 percent vocally."
