LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As criticism continues to mount over Donald Trump’s now-deleted “Jesus” post, Rosie O'Donnell joined the backlash, lashing out at the president over the controversial image.
O’Donnell’s reaction came after Trump shared an AI-generated photo depicting himself in the attire of Jesus, appearing to heal a man lying before him as onlookers watched in awe.
Rosie O’Donnell slams Trump’s Jesus image
Sharing a post on social media, the actor and comedian criticized Trump and urged Americans to “do something.” She listed several of his actions that she considered concerning, saying that “he just put out a thing that he is Jesus.”
“We gotta do something, America,” Rosie began, and continued with a list of the Trump administration’s actions that she said were raising concerns.
“He just put out a thing that he’s Jesus. He’s threatening to nuke countries. He’s digging up the White House and putting up a Putinesque meets Saudi Arabia ballroom in our White House.
“He’s arresting people, putting them in detention camps. In case of emergency, break glass and pull the fire alarm."
Describing the situation under Trump’s leadership as an emergency, she said things were going “beyond at this point.” “We should all be pulling the fire alarm.”
Trump’s AI Jesus post sparks controversy
The AI image depicts Donald Trump in Jesus’ attire, wearing a robe and appearing to heal a sick man with his hand while a nurse looks on and an American eagle soars above.
In the image, Trump is surrounded by divine light and flanked by angelic or soldier-like figures. Fighter jets are seen flying across the sky, while fireworks burst, suggesting military strength and celebration.
The Statue of Liberty appears in the background, emphasizing American identity. The scene resembles the biblical account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
Answering a question by CBS News about why he deleted the photo, the president said he would not normally do so but felt people were “confused.”
“Normally, I don't like doing that, but I didn't want to have anybody be confused. People were confused.” Although he later clarified that in the viral image he played a doctor, not Jesus.
Not only opponents, the post, shared on Truth Social on Sunday, April 12, also drew backlash from political allies, conservative commentators, and religious figures.
