'Well-rehearsed dunderhead': Laura Ingraham slams Michael Cohen as she attends Trump's hush money trial
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham shared her experience at the New York State Supreme Court where she was present to witness former President Donald Trump's hush money trial on Tuesday, May 14, on her show 'The Ingraham Angle'.
It was the second day in the trial with ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen on the witness stand, whom the prosecution believes to be a key witness, but Ingraham considered to be a "dunderhead."
Laura Ingraham's take on Trump's hush money trial
"Some quick takes on the atmosphere in the courtroom today where I was," Ingraham stated on her show. "Now, to give you a sense of what the GOP front-runner has been dealing with these past three weeks, the air is musty, the floors are old, tan, brown linoleum. Remember those? The benches, hard oak — with a stress on the word 'hard.'"
"I'm no body-language expert, and I could be wrong, but my novice reading is that there are at least two jurors — and perhaps as many as four — who will not vote that Donald Trump is guilty, will vote 'not guilty' on the evidence that was presented," she continued.
"Now, it's hard for all of us, including jurors who've been instructed to keep their emotions in check, to do just that, right? Because you hear something and you react, and it seemed that a few of the male jurors that I was observing appeared ever-so-slightly annoyed and unimpressed when the state was putting on its case."
Speaking of the witness testimony, Ingraham commented, "So, how did Cohen come off? Well, to me, like a well-rehearsed dunderhead. He explained away every unsavory action as motivated by his effort to 'protect Trump.'"
Trump attorney Todd Blanche tried to discredit Michael Cohen
According to Business Insider, Cohen was cross-examined by Trump's lead attorney Todd Blanche on Tuesday, and who tried to demolish the credibility of the witness.
Blanche brought up the topic of Cohen insulting the presumptive GOP nominee on social media, referring to him in multiple unflattering ways such as "dictator douchebag," "boorish cartoon misogynist," and a "Cheeto-dusted cartoon villain."
Cohen replied to all of them along the lines of, "That sounds like something I said," to much amusement of the people watching the trial.
The cross by the defense came after Cohen spent a day and a half on the witness stand being questioned by prosecutor Susan Hoffinger. The side of the prosecution reportedly believes that his testimony would help prove their stance that Trump had orchestrated the payment of hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to influence the 2016 election.
Blanche is expected to resume his questioning of Cohen when the court resumes on Thursday, May 16.
