Internet split as Laura Ingraham says recording of Michael Cohen-Trump conversation didn’t prove anything
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a recent monologue on her show 'The Ingraham Angle', Laura Ingraham delved into the legal drama surrounding former President Donald Trump, particularly focusing on the recent court proceedings involving Michael Cohen's taped conversation that she said did not prove anything in court.
As per CBS, during his testimony, Cohen informed jurors that Trump had detailed knowledge of "hush money" payments made before the 2016 election to two women who alleged they had sexual encounters with him.
Laura Ingraham dismisses impact of Michael Cohen's recording in recent court proceedings
"'Jughead's in a jam' - that's the focus of tonight's 'Angle'," Ingraham began, as per Fox News, setting the stage for a discussion on the much-anticipated taped conversation between Trump and Cohen from 2016.
She continued, "The big moment in court today was supposed to be the playing of a taped conversation that Michael Cohen recorded between Trump and himself back in 2016 (yeah, eight years ago)," continuing, "where they can be heard talking about how they would buy the rights to Karen McDougal's story."
Ingraham remarked, highlighting how old the conversation was. "On the tape, Cohen can be heard explaining to the then presidential candidate his plans to form an LLC through which he would finance the purchase of the rights to that woman's story."
However, Ingraham quickly dismissed the hype surrounding this tape, saying, "None of the hype amounted to anything. None of it proved anything."
Ingraham turned her attention to Alvin Bragg, a key figure in the legal proceedings, and his reliance on Cohen as a pivotal witness.
"Ironically, Alvin Bragg hopes that Jughead is his fixer, that Michael Cohen can help deliver a guilty verdict in a case that was a bomb from day one," she remarked, questioning the credibility of Cohen as a witness.
Ingraham didn't mince words while discussing the broader implications of relying on figures like Cohen and adult film actress Stormy Daniels in legal and political matters.
"Now, only the radical, far-left legal mind would think that a convicted perjurer and a nutty porn star should be considered serious people, let alone help decide the next presidential election," she stated, highlighting her skepticism towards the motives driving certain legal actions against Trump.
Reportedly, Cohen is set to resume his testimony on May 21 as prosecutors press forward with their questioning.
