Whoopi Goldberg blasted online as she accuses Democrats of openly pressuring Joe Biden to step down
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' host Whoopi Goldberg expressed her ire on Monday, July 22, and criticized Democratic Party members for openly pressurizing President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race.
"The messaging that we have put out to people over a certain age is horrific. We have basically said, ‘Hey, you know what? We kind of think if you’re over a certain age, you don’t really have what it takes to do the job that you’re doing.’ That's the messaging that we put out, I’m bored by hearing that," Goldberg said, according to Fox News.
President Joe Biden quits re-election race in a shocking announcement
On Sunday, July 21, President Joe Biden declared his withdrawal from the presidential contest, endorsing vice president Kamala Harris to assume his place on the Democratic ticket. He finally made the announcement following weeks of pressure from his party members.
Whooping Goldberg says Democrats shouldn't have pressurized Joe Biden 'in everybody’s face'
"I would have preferred my Democrats to do this not publicly and in everybody’s face," Goldberg said, adding "What it did was it had us sitting, having to talk about this endlessly."
Former Trump aide and co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin reiterated the same, claiming that being president was "so different than any other job." Co-host Sara Haines said she wanted to distinguish between co-host Joy Behar at the age of 81 and Biden who is also 81. "It’s not the number, it’s how the number looks on the person," Haines said.
Griffin also pointed out that being a host on 'The View' was different from the job of the president.
"Again, it is saying to people of a certain age, because that’s what the messaging has been. ‘You’re old. You’re doddering.’ It really pissed me off. Not because I’m as close. But because I felt it was disrespectful," Goldberg said.
Whoopi Goldberg objects to Democrats who might consider challenging Kamala Harris
Additionally, Goldberg objected to any Democrats who might challenge Harris, citing Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia in particular.
"I am trusting that we’re not going to have a problem here because this is what everybody said they wanted to happen. Mr Manchin, don’t even think about it," Goldberg said after touting Harris' fundraising. "We don’t want you. We don’t want you. We saw what you did. Go on and stay wherever you are," she added.
In the wake of Biden's declaration, Manchin had considered re-registering as a Democrat. Manchin declared on Monday, July 22, that he had no intention of running against Harris but he did support a competitive nomination process and even suggested a "mini-primary."
Whoopi Goldberg's unpopularity among internet users continues as she blindly defends Joe Biden yet again
Netizens, seemingly tired of Goldberg's irrational and one sided take on Biden, slammed her for criticizing the Democratic party. One X user said, "She's repulsive and should be pulled from network cable." Another echoed, "Who cares what she has to say." "Wake up and smell the coffee whoopsie. You're just now catching on?" a user added.
"I’m sorry, is there ANYONE that cares what this woman?" asked another user. "Whoopi Goldberg, the person who said she would vote for Biden even if he poops his pants, shouldn’t talk," remarked a user.
