Why Barron Trump ‘keeps a low profile,’ according to sister-in-law Lara Trump

WASHINGTON, DC: Barron Trump has largely stayed out of public view despite growing curiosity around him. According to his sister-in-law, Lara Trump, that’s very much by design.

Speaking on an episode of her podcast The Right View, Lara pointed to intense public attention as the driving force behind Barron’s low-key profile.

“I don’t know if he knows the internet is obsessed with him. I think he knows there’s a lot of interest, but that’s why he likes to lay low,” she said. “That’s why he plays it cool, that’s why you don’t see him all the time.”

Lara Trump calls Barron a 'sleeper'

Lara described the President’s youngest son as “such a smart kid,” adding that he’s also “great” and “funny."

“I say this all the time, I feel like he’s a sleeper, like you want to hear more about Barron because you see less of him, and I think that’s kind of cool,” she said. “He knows what’s going on out there. He’s up on all of it."

Now a sophomore, Barron began his freshman year at New York University’s Stern School of Business in September 2024 before transferring to the school’s Washington, DC, campus a year later. The move allowed him to live at the White House after his father secured a second term.

The DC campus hosts a tight-knit group of 60 to 100 students and focuses on hands-on exposure to politics, policy, business, and journalism through coursework and real-world experience in the nation’s capital.

President Trump confirmed Barron’s living arrangement during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, even pointing out that his son was just upstairs during a tour of the residence. “He’s here. He’s right upstairs,” Trump said, predicting a bright future and calling him “tremendous.”

Speaking of his youngest son’s decision to go to business school, the President called it "a very high-quality place."

"He liked it. He liked the school,” Trump said. “I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that. We went for Stern.”

Family ties and future plans

Lara began dating Eric Trump in 2008 when Barron was just two years old. She noted how she has watched him grow up firsthand.

“It’s crazy because I’ve seen Barron grow up, which means I’m 160 years old,” she joked.

“But he turned out to be a really great kid, and he’s excited to finish up college and get out and work,” Lara added, noting he still has two years left before graduating.

She also praised the President’s role as a father to his five children, namely Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron.

“The president now has the opportunity to raise five different kids, and they are all great, hard-working people who want to contribute, and I think that speaks volumes about who he is,” she said.

Even before finishing college, Barron is already dipping his toes into business. He’s involved in Sollos Yerba Mate Inc., a beverage startup described by a co-founder as a “lifestyle beverage brand built around clean + functional ingredients." Its first flavors are expected to launch in May.
