NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a strongly worded statement on Iran's drone attacks on Israel late Saturday, April 13.

More than 200 missiles and drones were launched by Iran towards Israel in the evening, the vast majority of which were reportedly intercepted outside Israeli territory by their aerial defense systems. US air defense systems in the Middle East also intercepted some Iranian drones, two US officials corroborated.

The attack is considered to be in retaliation for an airstrike on an Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1 that resulted in the death of seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to CBS News.

President Joe Biden's statement

Biden shared his complete statement condemning Iran's attack and reaffirming "America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel" over X, which read, "Earlier today, Iran—and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq—launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms."

"At my direction, to support the defense of Israel, the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week. Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles."

"I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel," continued the incumbent. "I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks – sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel."

"Tomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people," he concluded.

Internet reacts to Joe Biden's tweet

"Then why didn't you condemn Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate? Clearly, your approach of only pressing others in the region to show restraint while giving Israel full maneuverability to slaughter and enlarge the war, is a complete and predictable failure," a user slammed POTUS in response to his tweet.

"You are the worst president when it comes to foreign policy in US history," jibed another.

"Why didn't you convene a meeting of the G7 when Israel bombed the Iranian Embassy on another country?" inquired one user.

"When Israel was attacked, Biden said Israel has a right to defend itself. Iran is attacked, and they don't. Apparently, only Israel has this right," chided another user.

"Don't worry, allies. Joe Biden has you covered with a strongly worded statement (that he didn't write, and probably didn't read)" mocked a user.
