WASHINGTON, DC: Only a few days before Christmas, Vice President Kamala Harris shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she shared her take on assault weapons and how they are “weapons of war.”

Harris also briefly spoke about the renewal of the assault weapons ban, but Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was not on the same page as the Vice President as she slammed her on the social media platform and asked Harris to “Stop trying to destroy our 2nd Amendment.”

The internet was quick to weigh in, as they did when Greene took to X to express one of the “most important issues to her,” aka “Defending our great Second Amendment.”

On X, Vice President Kamala Harris wrote, “Assault weapons are weapons of war, designed to kill a lot of people quickly. They have no place on the streets of civil society.”

She added, “It is time to renew the assault weapons ban.”

To this, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene responded, “Under your admin, there are 1.8 MILLION known gotaways like this one illegally in our country from all over the world carrying weapons and god knows what else.”

"Potentially thousands are terrorists,” added Greene, as she shared a picture of an alleged "gotaway."

The congresswoman also weighed on the Second Amendment and wrote, “Stop trying to destroy our 2nd Amendment and do your job! Secure our border!”

Internet weighs in on Marjorie Taylor Greene’s response to Vice President

After Marjorie Taylor Greene shared her response to Vice President Kamala Harris’ post on how it is “time to renew the assault weapons ban,” the internet’s response was prompt.

One user wrote, “Stop whining on Twitter and do YOUR job." and another wrote, “And what have you done about it, MTG?  Other than creating online “noise,” you have accomplished NOTHING. Why don’t you use your position to do something real rather than garnering clicks and retweets?  You are TIRESOME.”

"Maybe you should do your job too. Instead of basing Biden all the time find some workable solutions instead,” wrote one user, and another mocked, “I'm sure more talking will make a big difference.”

Greene continued to face backlash online as one user wrote, “You're telling someone else to do their job. That's hilarious!” and another wrote, “Speaking of doing your job.... how about it, Congress?”
