Zohran Mamdani laughs off Whoopi Goldberg mispronouncing his name: 'One day we’re gonna get it'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Mayor Zohran Mamdani appeared on 'The View' and had a hearty chat with hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. During the live segment, Goldberg stumbled over his name, saying, "We're back with the New York City mayor, Zor-h-an Mamdani," as the show returned from a commercial break.
Mamdani took it in stride, smiling, "One day, we're gonna get it." The exchange drew laughs from the audience, showcasing Mamdani’s easygoing nature and sense of humor. He later joked that mispronunciations happen often, but he’s happy to set the record straight.

Mamdani shared a lighthearted moment on 'The View'. The slip-up had the cohosts chuckling as they watched the popular liberal politician patiently handle the mix-up. Around minute 32 of the 36-minute segment, Mamdani smiled and laughed as Goldberg struggled with his name.
Turning to Mamdani, Goldberg said, "Listen, Z, I'm trying," while some suggested she just call him "Mayor Z" to keep it simple.
Goldberg agreed, telling him, "Mayor Z, that's what I'm going to call you." Joy Behar added with a smile, "It's the H that throws you off."
Goldberg admitted, "It's also, I'm dyslexic, so it doesn't look like what I'm seeing," as she pointed toward the prompter. "I'm trying to get it right, and I'm just calling him Mayor Z."
Mamdani, unfazed, replied with a grin, "One day, we're gonna get it." The conversation then moved on, with the mayor discussing a wide range of local and national political issues.

During the conversation, Joy Behar asked Zohran Mamdani about his November 21 meeting with President Donald Trump. "We all know you are totally filled with charm. The one who's really taken with you is Trump. What's interesting is you called him a fascist to his face," Behar said. Mamdani confirmed that he had done exactly that at the time.

The NYC mayor called the moment "a dream I've always had" and noted that Trump "seemed to be madly in love" with Mamdani afterwards, even sending him texts following the meeting. "Can I see the texts?" Behar asked. Mamdani declined, saying, "I don't have my phone with me."
