Authorities struggle to coordinate during scene chaos
As more people gathered at the scene, federal agents struggled to explain the situation to local police dispatchers.
An agent named Phillip told a dispatcher, “We had officers stuck in a vehicle and we had agitators on scene. And we have shots fired by our locals.”
However, when the operator asked who did the shooting, the agent said, “No, I don’t have any of that stuff,” because he was only hearing the information second-hand.
The logs noted that they were “still attempting to figure out who’s in charge” as the crowd began throwing snow and ice at the federal agents.
The chaos only started to end when the logs noted, “crowd calmed down now that ICE is gone.”
Reportedly, paramedics found Good unresponsive with a faint pulse. According to official fire department records, Good sustained two gunshot wounds to the right side of the chest, one to the forearm, and a potential fourth wound to the head.
Renee Good’s family lawyer vows to uncover shooting facts
Attorney Antonio Romanucci, who previously worked on the George Floyd case, is now representing the family and says they are looking for a “path forward” for a lawsuit.
He explained that a video of the shooting doesn't tell the whole story.
“We have to get to the facts. Looking at the video is not enough to understand who is at fault and why were they at fault and whether or not there is recompense for this, and what changes can be brought about,” Romanucci said.
Even though it is hard to win a case against a federal officer, he stated, “I think any successful civil case is always an uphill battle. There is no such thing as an easy one. But we definitely see a path forward here, or else I don’t think we would be involved.”
Romanucci said Good’s family emphasized they want people to know she was “much more than what she has been branded to be.”
He added, “She was about love, she was not those words that the administration labeled her as after this happened. She is a mother, she is a committed partner, she’s a daughter, she’s a sister, she’s a PTA member, she’s an animal lover.”
