NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: When a video showing water cascading down a building in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, surfaced online, it quickly became a hot topic, grabbing the interest of many internet users.

This video sparked speculation and various theories about the cause of the sudden water event, leading to lively discussions once it started spreading on social media platforms.

Water fountain sprinkles down on the street from NYC building 

According to reports from Men's Journal, residents of the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York City had an unexpected experience on April 4 while many were out enjoying their lunch break.

As reported by NBC New York, the FDNY (Fire Department of New York) received a call around 12:15 p.m. about a water leak from a building located at Eighth Avenue and West 42nd Street.

Videos posted by locals online showed that this wasn't just a minor leak; instead, it was a significant burst, resembling a powerful water fountain shooting out from the building's side.



 

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries by 2 pm, due to the water incident. The building authorities acted swiftly by cutting down the water supply, and by 12:30 p.m., the fountain had subsided.

The cause of the water leak remains unknown, but investigations are ongoing. Speculations online suggest various possibilities, ranging from a burst pipe to potential issues with the building's plumbing systems, according to Men's Journal.

Internet users say NYC is collapsing

A user on X speculated a hypothetical situation the water mishap must have caused on the street and wrote, "Everybody outside is getting a free shower🤣."



 

Another user wrote, "This is an easy fix. This water leak...if real, there is a 6 inch main line coming into the building in the basement floor which has a very large shutoff valve painted red and market "Main Water"! Turn counterclockwise until the water is stopped."



 

A user commented, "This is probably better than if it happened in the middle of the building flooding the entire floor, and the floors below. Much less water damage."
