Sean Burroughs succumbs to death at the age of 43
As reported by USA Today, Long Beach Little League (LBLL) confirmed the tragic loss of Sean Burroughs, former MLB player, and Little League icon.
The news shocked many as Burroughs collapsed and died at Stearns Champions Park in Long Beach, California, where he once played and led his team to consecutive Little League World Series championships in 1992 and 1993.
Burroughs, 43, had been an assistant coach for his 6-year-old son Knox's team. After dropping off Knox for his game, Burroughs was found unconscious near his car in the parking lot. Despite efforts from emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene, as per USA Today.
LBLL President, Doug Wittman, expressed to the Orange County Register, "It was very shocking. It’s a real sense of family at Long Beach Little League. So, when we lose one of our own, it hurts."
The league shared a touching message on Instagram, saying, "We will have his family in our thoughts and prayers during this time and try to end the season playing the kind of baseball Coach Sean would be proud of."

According to USA Today, Burroughs, born on September 12, 1980, inherited his love for baseball from his father, Jeff Burroughs, who was named the 1974 AL MVP. Sean honed his skills at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach. His talent caught the attention of the San Diego Padres, who drafted him ninth overall in the 1998 MLB Draft.
Burroughs made his MLB debut in 2002 and played for several teams during his career, including the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Minnesota Twins.
