‘AITA for blocking pal after discovering she’s posting racist stuff from fake account about our friend?’
A 32-year-old woman has posted about her shock after she found out that one of her friends was sharing racist things about their mutual friend online using a fake social media account.
She even mentioned that she’s ended things with her after knowing her "disgusting" truth.
Explaining her story in detail on Reddit’s "Am I The A*****e" (AITA) forum, WillingnessOne3790, said, “So, a bit of backstory, our friend group is pretty diverse, and one of our closest friends (28F) is from Singapore. She’s one of the kindest people I know, always there for everyone, super supportive.”
Woman claims her friend was trolling mutual friend using fake account
“But a few months ago, she started getting these really nasty comments online from a fake account. Like, full-on racist s**t. It wasn’t just trolling, it was straight-up hate,” she revealed.
The woman shared that she and her friends did everything to support her and even “reported the account”. However, it was apparent that the hateful comments upset her friend from Singapore.
The Reddit user continued, “Then, a couple of weeks ago, our whole group went out for some drinks. Just a normal night, catching up, laughing, nothing serious. I was sitting next to my friend. Let's call her Anna (30F). At some point, I saw her open Facebook, and for a split second, I saw a profile pic that looked way too familiar.”
Troller blamed friend from Singapore
She immediately realized that the profile was none other than the one that was mercilessly trolling her friend from Singapore.
Without wasting time, the woman said she confronted Anna, who first “panicked and tried to close the app super fast, mumbling something about me seeing it wrong.”
However, the truth came out as the Reddit user “called her out right there. ‘Are you SERIOUSLY the one who’s been posting all that racist s**t?’ Everyone went quiet. She looked around, like she was trying to find an escape, then started making up the worst excuses. First it was ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about', then it was ‘I was just joking', then somehow she tried to blame our friend for being ‘too sensitive'.”
The woman was dumbfounded after listening to her excuses and noted that Anna “always acted so sweet and friendly to our Singaporean friend, like besties and everything. And all this time she was going online, making fake profiles, and writing the most disgusting things about her.”
She also mentioned that she instantly made it clear to Anna that she “wanted nothing to do with her anymore. Our whole friend group agreed no one wanted to be around someone like that. We all blocked her and cut her off that night.”
The Redditor said that now Anna has been accusing her of “ruining” her life and that she “didn’t have to ‘expose’ her in front of everyone. A couple of people outside our friend group said I should’ve talked to her in private first. But honestly? I don’t think I owe her that. AITAH?”
Redditors ask woman to take legal action against her friend
People in the comment section sided with the poster as one said, “NTA at all!!! You did just right! Such AHs need to be exposed! Tell your friend to seek legal action against here racial a**.”
Another user commented, “NTA. Calling out racists and them getting consequences for the appalling s**t they do, and the pain and misery they cause, is absolutely the right thing. The only person who ruined their life was the racist b**** who hurt your friend.”
One user shared, “You did the right thing, a friend wouldn’t treat you like that. She’s mad she was caught but let her face the consequences of her actions.”
A person posted, “Racists deserve to have their lives ruined. If she didn’t want to hang out in a pile of S**t, she shouldn’t have s**t.”
Someone else wrote, “NTA. You didn’t ‘ruin her life’ she did that herself by being a secret racist troll and getting caught. She got exposed in the exact way she deserved. Let her stay blocked and figure out how to rebuild her life without blaming you. Actions have consequences, and she just found that out the hard way."
“NTA. Tell her 'and I'd do it again, POS!'” a Reddit comment read.
