A Redditor in the UAE recently expressed guilt over kicking out two friends who expected him to be their personal "chauffeur" during their visit. Despite making time to show them around Dubai, the Redditor's efforts were overshadowed by his friends' behavior, which quickly soured the experience.

The friends disregarded house rules, went through the Redditor’s wife’s personal belongings, and made excessive demands, pushing the situation beyond what he was willing to tolerate. This ultimately led to a fallout, with the friends being asked to leave.

Redditor explains why he kicked out two friends from his home

According to a post on Reddit's "AmITheA*****e" section by user Karprillicious994, a man living in the UAE expressed guilt about kicking his friends out after they expected him to be their chauffeur.

The post began with the Redditor explaining his plan to host his friends from Europe for a week, showing them the sights in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He wrote, "I’ve said sure, I got a spare room, you can stay there and I’ll take extra days off to take you to Dubai and do tourist stuff."

However, after their visit, the Redditor began experiencing several issues with his guests. He shared that they started complaining about his cats, despite knowing that he rescues them and has six of them. "They keep complaining about cat hair and 'we can’t sit in the living room because of them' so they just keep hiding in the guest room."

Another issue was their demand for him to drive them around the city after work hours. "I work a lot," the Redditor explained, adding that they wanted him to wait in the car while they took photos.

The guests' behavior continued to frustrate him, as they went through his wife’s makeup and personal items in the guest room. "Going through my wife makeup and stuff - she keeps this in the guest room on a makeup table (keep in mind guest room is like 25sqm so there is plenty of space everywhere) and using her stuff without asking - Dyson stuff and few other things."

The Redditor also mentioned a disregard for house rules they had set, "They were strictly informed not to open the windows in their room if the cats are inside. They keep opening the windows and not caring if the cats go in and out."

Additionally, the post continued, "First night I told them the air mattress is maybe leaking air so they need to let me know in the morning so I can buy another one - complained in the morning that air mattress is shit and they couldn’t sleep on it at all - immediately ordered one and they kept nagging if I ordered."

The Redditor described another issue, "Me coming back from work at 11:30pm after long day on meetings and whatnot - they coming out of room and asking what’s for dinner."

After enduring multiple complaints, the Redditor decided to confront his friends, "I’ve told them that they are taking advantage of me trying to be a helpful guy but there is a limit of their whining and told them to get out and find a hotel."

Internet calls OP's friends 'worst houseguests ever'

The Redditor's post has received over 2.1K upvotes and numerous comments, with many users labeling the Redditor as 'Not the A*****e' for kicking out the guests after they treated him like their personal tour guide.

One user wrote, "NTA. I'd kick them out just for their lack of care regarding your cats. Tell them to find a hotel."

A second comment read, "NTA. You offered them a room, & that you'd take a day or two off to show them around. Not the 5-star hotel they evidentially expected."

A third user declared, "Those are some of the worst houseguests ever. And you should meet my in-laws! Dude, NTA and please do not allow yourself to say yes if they ask to come visit again and stay with you."

One expressed sorrow for the poster, "NTA in general, however in your first paragraph you said you'd take days off to show them around, and then in later paragraphs you said you were working lots and late. If my friend told me "yes, come over, I'll take time off to show you around" and then I got there and they were at work until 1130pm, I'd be mad too."

A social media user said, "NTA. These aren’t your friends, they just see you as an address they can use. Good for you on kicking them out."

Another said, "Oh god what insufferable people. Hotels are cheap enough in the UAE, tell them to complain to people they pay to complain to."

One commented, "Kick them out. They’re not friends."
