The user, a first-year medical resident, expressed frustration to their partner for not preparing the homemade meal they had promised after an exhausting workweek.

In his post, the man detailed how his grueling schedule of 72 hours a week often leaves him too drained to cook, leading him to frequently opt for takeout.

His partner, who works from home, had vowed to prepare his favorite meal—Katsu with brown rice and sauce—on Sunday evening, a treat he had been looking forward to after an especially taxing shift.

The post stated that the man had finished an arduous 24-hour shift and then endured a lengthy day at work, which left him utterly drained.

“My back was aching, my feet were tired, and my brain felt like it needed a factory reset,” he explained. Even though he was exhausted, he was eagerly anticipating the meal his partner had promised to make.

However, after a lengthy drive home, the man found that no meal had been prepared. When he confronted his partner, they confessed, "I got distracted after getting off work and forgot about it."

The man conveyed his disappointment to his partner, saying, “I would have really appreciated it if they had at least called me to let me know so that I could have stopped to get something while I was already out."

His partner, feeling criticized, called him an "a**hole" for his reaction, prompting the man to retaliate by ordering takeout only for himself.

The 27-year-old explained, "They called me an a**hole for yelling at them for forgetting this “little thing.” After we were done, I was hungry, so I grabbed my keys and went to get something to eat for myself."

Later, when his partner texted him their order, he ignored it, "I saw that, while I was waiting, they texted me their order, but I ignored them."

Upon returning home, he did not bring food for them. His partner, upset, called him a "petty asshole." "When I got back home and they saw I didn’t get them anything, they called me a petty a**hole and went back upstairs. I didn’t say anything out loud as I wasn’t in the mood and just wanted to eat, shower, and go to bed," he said.
