NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Amal Clooney, human rights lawyer and wife of Hollywood star George Clooney, featured on the panel of experts who advised the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and other leaders on both sides of the Israel-Hamas war, reported Fox News.

According to the publication, 46-year-old Clooney was asked by ICC's chief prosecutor Karim Khan for assistance with evaluating evidence of suspected war crimes and crimes against humanity in Israel and the Gaza Strip, where the Israel Defense Force has undertaken an ongoing assault since the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.

The ICC has reportedly claimed jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed by Sinwar, top Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and military commander Mohammed Deif on one side, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on the other.

Amal Clooney says she 'supports the historic step'

Clooney uploaded a long statement on the Clooney Foundation for Justice website acknowledging her role in the issue of the warrants.

"I agreed and joined a panel of international legal experts to undertake this task," she shared.

"We unanimously conclude that there are reasonable grounds to believe that Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, and Ismail Haniyeh have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, including hostage-taking, murder, and crimes of sexual violence."

The attorney went on to cite "starvation as a method of warfare, murder, persecution, and extermination", as alleged war crimes committed by Israel and justified the warrant against Netanyahu and Gallant.

"As a human rights lawyer, I will never accept that one child’s life has less value than another’s. I do not accept that any conflict should be beyond the reach of the law, nor that any perpetrator should be above the law," stated Clooney, adding, "So I support the historic step that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has taken to bring justice to victims of atrocities in Israel and Palestine."

The significance of Clooney's stance on the subject increases by the fact that her celebrity husband George Clooney is an influential supporter of President Joe Biden, and has been enlisted to appear in a fundraiser and ads in support of the incumbent who has officially slammed the warrants by ICC against Israeli leaders as "outrageous."

"What a complete tool lmao," jibed a third.

"Turns out she is not only not a very bright lawyer but an antisemite," slammed a fourth user.
