‘American Queen’: MAGA influencers push AI Vanity Fair cover of Melania Trump as magazine mulls feature

WASHINGTON, DC: MAGA influencers are promoting an AI-generated Vanity Fair cover depicting First Lady Melania Trump as “The American Queen,” despite its creator admitting it was fake.
The image has gone viral among pro-Trump personalities, with some urging supporters to “meme it into existence."

MAGA embraces fake Melania Trump 'American Queen' cover
The fabricated cover was created by right-wing commentator Gary Franchi of Next News Network and shows Melania wearing a crown.
“Now I do have a confession to make. I actually made that cover with AI. But the facts are the same,” Franchi said. “I made that because I wanted to troll the left because they are melting down over this becoming a possibility! So there’s my disclaimer.”

Charlie Kirk encouraged Trump supporters to “meme the cover into existence,” while Fox News host Laura Ingraham said she enjoyed the backlash from critics.

Vanity Fair internal tension over featuring Melania Trump on cover
Franchi’s trolling played off reported friction inside Vanity Fair over a possible Melania Trump cover. Semafor reported that former editor-in-chief Radhika Jones showed interest in featuring the first lady, while the Daily Mail said some staff reacted “in fury.”
Mark Guiducci, Vanity Fair’s new global editorial director, reportedly tried to convince Melania over the summer, but his team strongly objected.

“If [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, half of the editorial staff will walk out, I guarantee it,” a mid-level editor told the Daily Mail. “I will walk out the motherf***ing door, and half my staff will follow me.” Another employee added, “We are not going to normalize this despot and his wife; we’re just not going to do it. We’re going to stand for what’s right… I’d rather work bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s.”

However, not everyone agreed a mass protest would occur. “It’s all talk,” one employee said. “If they put her on the cover, people will protest and gripe about it, but I don’t see anyone quitting such a prestigious job over that.”
Jennifer Aniston selected as September cover
Vanity Fair’s upcoming issue will not feature Melania Trump at all—the magazine chose Jennifer Aniston for its September cover.

According to Page Six, Melania “laughed” at the request and declined. “She doesn’t have time,” a fashion source said. “Her priorities as first lady are far more important. These people don’t deserve her anyway.”
Another insider added, “She’s way above doing Vanity Fair. She’s been nothing but kind and works hard… She has her priorities straight.”
Melania Trump downplays magazine features
In a December appearance on 'Fox & Friends' before Donald Trump’s second inauguration, Melania dismissed the significance of being on magazine covers. “I’ve been there,” she said. “For me, we have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine. I think that life would not change for anybody if I’m on the cover.”
